Charles Walton

Principal Advisor

Charlie is an industry expert with entrepreneurial experience in the security technology industry related to digital identity & authentication, NFC/mobile data systems, smart card ID systems, and the bankcard payments ecosystem. He’s worked in large corporate environments, venture-backed companies at varying stages, and entrepreneurial start-up founding.

He was most recently part of Gen and Avast, responsible for developing Avast’s digital trust services strategy as the company expanded its expertise and innovation in privacy and identity products. This involved defining the product strategy, driving research and development, developing the go-to-market & distribution model, and bringing together the team from Avast, Evernym, SecureKey, and the industry to execute to this strategy.

Charlie was previously responsible for creating and rolling out a major new global business within Mastercard focused on digital identity services – the ID Service. This global role involved business and go-to-market strategy, platform and service definition, and associated business & technology partnership strategies.

Most of Charlie’s career has been focused on innovation and product development in the information security industry, with prior roles at Idemia, SecureKey, INSIDE Secure, Caradas, Certco, Spyrus, and GTE Cybertrust.

Charlie holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic in Troy, New York. He currently lives in the Boston, MA area.
